Buffalo State is proud to partner with school districts to offer an exciting opportunity: Direct Admission to college without the usual application barriers. If you’re a senior at a participating high school, you may already be eligible for a provisional offer of admission to Buffalo State.
This program is designed to recognize your hard work in high school and help you take the next step toward a successful future—without the stress and cost of a traditional application process.
What Is the Direct Admission Program?
The Direct Admission Program is a partnership between Buffalo State and your school district that allows us to identify and extend provisional offers of admission to eligible students based on their high school academic record.
This means:
- You don’t need to complete a full application to receive an admission offer
- There’s no application fee
- We’ll work with your school to collect necessary documents
What Does a Provisional Offer Mean?
If you receive a letter from us, congratulations! You’ve been selected for a provisional admission offer to Buffalo State. This means we reviewed your high school performance and believe you’re ready to succeed in college.
To confirm your admission, you just need to:
- Complete a free application using the ApplySUNY portal
- Enter BUFDIRECT in the Special Campus Project field
- Choose "Mail in Payment" to waive the application fee
Once you submit the application, we will request your transcript directly from your school—you don’t need to do anything else!

How Do I Know If I’m Eligible?

Your offer is provisional, pending final review of your transcript. As long as you meet graduation requirements and your academic record is consistent, you’ll be fully admitted.
