Buffalo State College will present Bengalathon 2020, a fundraiser designed to provide emergency financial assistance and scholarships for its students, on Sunday, May 31, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Bengalathon will air live on WBBZ-TV and be livestreamed on the Buffalo State Alumni Association Facebook page.
For 23 consecutive years, Buffalo State has hosted its largest fundraiser, Bengala, which has raised nearly $5 million in scholarship funds. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s fundraising program has been re-imagined as Bengalathon.
During the event, viewers will hear a special message from Buffalo State President Katherine Conway-Turner and see Buffalo State students, alumni, and donors. Bengalathon will also feature performances from the Buffalo-based band Mom Said No throughout the program.
“Bengalathon will be an opportunity for the Buffalo State community to connect and support our students whose personal and academic journeys have been directly affected by the global pandemic,” Conway-Turner said. “Our students persevered through an unprecedented academic year, and your participation in Bengalathon will help contribute to Buffalo State’s commitment to helping every Bengal earn a college degree.”
Viewers can bid on auction items and donate directly through the Bengalathon website. Buffalo State staff members will also be standing by to take calls for donations at 1-833-GIVE-BSC (1-833 448-3272).
