Buffalo State alumnus Eric Greenberg, ’78, worked with the legendary Canadian singer-songwriter Gordon Lightfoot to recast one of Lightfoot’s lesser-known tunes, “Cabaret,” as an ode to the Queen City. The new music video, “Up in Buffalo,” featuring footage of Greenberg’s alma mater and fond memories of his time at Buffalo State, was the topic of Buffalo News columnist Erik Brady on November 15.
A graduate of Buffalo State’s journalism program, Greenberg received a SUNY honorary doctor of humane letters during Buffalo State 150th Commencement celebration in May 2022. He is currently the director of United Nations relations and strategic partnerships at the Simon Wiesenthal Center, one of the world’s largest Jewish international human rights organizations.
Lightfoot, whose best-known hits include "If You Could Read My Mind," "Sundown," and "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald," turns 84 this week.
