Ninety-six golfers gathered at the Orchard Park Country Club on a gorgeous late-summer day to support the Buffalo State College Foundation’s 26th annual Golf and Tennis Scholarship Classic on September 26. This year’s tournament included brunch, a round of golf, and on-course snacks and beverages, as well as dinner and awards. All proceeds generated from the event will go directly toward supporting Buffalo State’s GRIT Scholarship Program.

First-place winners were teams from two of this year’s Silver Sponsors—software company Arbol and accounting firm the Bonadio Group—with scores of 61 overall and 69 in the mixed-couple category, respectively.

Local developer Sinatra and Company was the tournament’s Gold Sponsor.

Interim President Bonita R. Durand, Ph.D., welcomed participants before the 24 teams teed off.

“Our students are the reason we are here,” she told the players. “Your support today gives them the resources and confidence to achieve success in their chosen fields. On their behalf, thank you!”

Culinary students from Buffalo State’s Hospitality and Tourism Department, headed by Kathleen O’Brien, department chair, served as volunteers for the event.
