Buffalo State students Caleb Kruzicki and Chris Boadi used funding received through the Contribution Project, to arrange for Lloyd Tacos to be given out at St. Vincent DePaul’s Dining Room, where meals are served to community members in need. The duo documented the experience on TikTok under their shared handle @salt.pepper716.
“When I first saw learned about the Contribution Project and its focus on spreading love and helping the community, I was immediately drawn to it,” said Kruzicki. “I knew that this was something I wanted to be part of and realized that I could use my social media channel to make an even bigger impact by reaching more people and spreading awareness. I firmly believe that everyone deserves a great meal, and to me, one of the best ways to spread love is through food. My mom always told me that the way to someone’s heart is through their stomach, and that idea really stuck with me. It motivated me to take action and create something meaningful. reached out to my partner for our channel, and he was fully on board with the idea of spreading love and helping our community. From there, we got right to work planning and organizing everything to make the project happen.”
The Contribution Project is a project of the Purpose Commons in collaboration with PSiX at Cornell University. The Contribution Project accepts applications from young people ages 14-25 living in the United States who are seeking to make an impact on their community, school, or neighborhood and offers $400 to accepted contributors to pursue their ideas.
“I was honored to support the students who applied and received this funding,” said Denise Harris, director of Buffalo State’s Career and Professional Education Center. “I was amazed by their creativity and thoughtfulness, which transformed not only our campus but also the local community.”
