Welcome back, Bengals! As you settle in for the first week of the spring 2020 semester, check out what’s happening on campus, like the Buffalo State Voice Program Benefit Concert on Thursday, January 30, at 7:30 p.m. in the Ciminelli Recital Hall. The concert features Buffalo State faculty members James Judd, Holly Bewlay, Mariami Bekauri, Joseph Spann, Emily Boyce, Ivan Docenko, and Jon Rizzo. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online. Audition to become a member of the Buffalo State Chorale or the Buffalo State Chamber Choir. Additional auditions take place Tuesday, January 28, and Wednesday, January 29. Rehearsals begin Thursday, January 30. Sign up online for your audition.

Interested in earth sciences? Join the Astronomy Geology Club for a semester-opening general interest meeting. Open to all students interested in these scientific fields both as serious study and simply to learn more and enjoy the universe we live in. Upcoming club events, projects, and field trips will also be discussed.

Webinar Engaging the Campus Part 2: Knowledge Exchange

3:00 to 4:00 p.m.
As Census 2020 nears, what is the campus doing to prepare? Hear updates from Metro State and James Madison universities, as well as other examples from across the country, on how campuses are educating students, creating curriculum, and engaging the community. Come prepared to learn and share. Time will be set aside for participants to share the work being done at Buffalo State College. Everything will be documented and added to the Campus Compact Census 2020 Knowledge Hub.

Webinar: Building Democratic Skills through Deliberative Dialogue
South Wing 137
3:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Join the Civic and Community Engagement Office for a webinar on engaging people across differences in pursuit of common ground for action on major social issues. Deliberative dialogue provides an effective framework for mutual understanding and a common purpose that allows people to discuss difficult issues, weigh options, and ultimately take action. This workshop will provide an overview of the National Issues Forum deliberative dialogue model and allow participants to engage in a brief practice forum.
