Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day
Buffalo State University participated in the annual Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day on Thursday, April 27. The event, sponsored by the Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Foundation and the Buffalo State chapter of United University Professions, was held from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. across campus.
Children (ages 6–13) of Buffalo State employees explored the campus greenhouse and Whitworth Ferguson Planetarium; took part in a who-dunnit forensic chemistry activity; got a “rocky” geology lesson; sampled monster snacks and exotic fruits with Campus House; participated in a story-time STEM experiment in Butler Library; and sat in a real University Police cruiser. Benji the Bengal was, of course, on hand for photo-ops.
Breakfast and lunch were included, and every child received a Buffalo State ID badge and gift bag and was entered in a raffle for Buffalo State T-shirts and stuffed Bengals.
Interest in this year’s program was at an all-time high. Registration was closed at 50 participants, with nearly 20 more added to a priority waiting list for next year. This was the first on-campus event since before the COVID-19 pandemic.
