Nicholas Smith is the President of United Students Government (USG). He is a sophomore majoring in Political Science with minors in Math and Writing. He grew up approximately 10 miles east of Buffalo in the town of Lancaster. During his freshman year, he lived on campus in Tower 3 and was involved with Buffalo State Honors, the Student Political Society, and the USG. He began his USG career as a senator in September and was quickly appointed Executive Vice President in November of 2024. In March 2025, he stepped into the role of President and was re-elected in September 2025. He was also honored to be a part of the Buffalo State EURO program run by Associate Vice President Scott Goodman where he conducted research on economic inequalities role in democratic backsliding. Nick hopes to either go to law school and become a public defender or earn his Ph.D. in Political Science.
