About the Program
The minor in Ceramics offers students the opportunity to explore ceramics through a focus on relevant technical skills and individual creative expression with a strong emphasis on concept, craftsmanship, design, and aesthetics in both functional and sculptural ceramics. We offer wheel-throwing, hand-building, mold making, slip-casting, glaze development, and kiln theory.

Learning Outcomes
Students will:
1. interpret visual language including idioms, conventions, styles, elements and principles of design
2. demonstrate understanding of the meaning and use of artistic symbols in social context
3. interpret visual artwork, including an understanding of purposes and processes of creative endeavors
4. identify the persuasive and/or emotive aspects of visual and/or performed work
5. demonstrate understanding of artistic criteria for evaluating visual and/or performed work
