Learn to inspire the next generation of mathematicians, scientists, and innovators through hands-on labs, field experiences, and challenging lessons. We are proud that SUNY Buffalo State's mathematics education graduates are employed throughout Western New York and in schools across the United States.
Graduates of our mathematics/secondary education program are well prepared for faculty positions in high schools or junior high schools. Once students complete our Mathematics Education 7-12 (or 5-12) program, the Certification Office sends reports to the New York State Education Department (NYSED). Students receive their initial certification from NYSED.

Who Hires Our Students?
There is a global shortage of qualified mathematics and science teachers; job prospects are excellent. Graduates of our undergraduate and graduate programs have been hired as middle and high school teachers in school districts throughout the country.
Math Club takes the topics learned in the classroom and applies them to the real world. Our focus is to increase students' appreciation for the subject and introduce them to opportunities for individual growth in their knowledge of mathematics and mathematics education. Each meeting lineup can range from games, current events in math, or event planning, to in-depth talks from professors, guest speakers, and even fellow students.
