Additional Financial Aid
Grants are usually given to students based solely on a demonstration of financial need.
Scholarships are based on specific criteria, which includes academic merit, financial need, field of study, or a combination.
Work study is available during the fall and spring semesters. On average, students are eligible to work up to 12 hours per week.
Loans are a form of aid that must be repaid after graduation or when attendance drops below half-time status.
This program provides grants of up to $4,000 a year to students who are completing or plan to complete coursework needed to begin a career in teaching.
Say Yes Buffalo Scholarships and Grants are available to graduates of Buffalo public and charter schools and are privately funded by individuals, families, businesses, and organizations.
The New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) Grant helps eligible New York State residents pay tuition at approved schools in New York State.
The Excelsior scholarship program intends to help middle-class families pay for college, promote on-time graduation, and reduce student debt.
ACE at Buffalo State University is a comprehensive program designed to help students complete their academic journey to a bachelor’s degree on time. ACE provides a range of financial, academic, and personal support.
R.O.A.R. stands for Recognizing Opportunities and Achieving Results. Our admissions-based program offers customized student support to first-year students.

Tuition Deposit Deadline
Buffalo State will continue to accept tuition deposits on a case-by-case basis after the May 1 priority deadline.
Please note that we cannot guarantee scholarships, financial aid, or space in the incoming class beyond this date. You're welcome to take the time you need to make your decision—we encourage you to reach out with any questions or for help securing your spot for the Fall 2025 semester.

Tuition Deposit Fee
The tuition deposit is $125. You are able to pay your tuition deposit online through the applicant portal.
